PLEASE NOTE: There is a BIG difference between this model and the Fender Concert Amp that features:
The on/off switches on the rear panel and 2 knob reverb section on the far right front panel. They are not the same amplifier!
This amp is the “point to point” wired model produced by Fender and designed by Rivera in the early 80’s into the very early 90’s.
I replaced the speaker that came with it when I bought it second hand in Austin Texas a few years back.
The amp has a JENSEN MOD 12-70 70 watt 4 ohm 12” speaker. The Jensen MOD 12-70 is widely praised in guitar forums as a versatile, budget-friendly speaker, often described as a "modern with a touch of English" sound. Users frequently report tight, punchy lows, clear highs, and a balanced, non-flabby tone that handles high gain well. It is often compared to a Celestion Vintage 30 or G12T-75 but at a lower price point.
The FIVE 12 X7 and the two 12AT7 preamp section tubes have been replaced this month and are both matched sets. The two 6L6 power tubes were replaced a year ago and have about 40 hours on these new 6L6 tubes. I have an extra set I removed that are still fine and will include them in the sale. It’s good to have them on hand at a gig or session.
There are two independent channels.
The first is an amazingly clean channel (see pics) with a pullout “ bright” function on the volume knob. Jazz, Country and steel players love this channel. So do I.
The second channel is designed for some clipping/distortion with Master/ Gain and a Volume control and allows tons of flexibility. With Mid boost on a push pull option, you can dial in a sweet over-drive tone but be patient. I used this channel mainly as a boost because most of my over-drive tones came from a couple of pedals I use.
The effects loop on the rear panel is very useful if you are using offboard reverbs/delays/modulation pedals etc. It operates with line in and out controls and does not, in my opinion, color the sound. The stock 18 foot footswitch operates the channel switching and reverb on/off functions.
The reverb tank itself was replaced a couple of years ago by the great techs at Action Sound in Hawkins Texas. Shout out to Mikey and Kelly!
Reason for sale: I don’t gig anymore and this amp needs to be played on stage at a volume that allows the tubes to really breathe. My home studio is not that place. The Fuchs 4 watt Aces is more to my liking for my studio needs and so I just bought one. Now I need to replace the $$$ I spent on that amp.
Please take a look at the pics and let me know if you have any questions.
I can ship this amp but it will be expensive. Probably around $150-225.00. It might be better to meet up here at my place, try it out, pay for it cash and take it home. This amp will be listed on a couple of different sites so I reserve the right to take the listing down if it sells elsewhere.
