Large 14x13 Tarahumara Indian Wood Fired and Rawhide Wrapped Clay Pottery Olla, with the stand as shown in photos. Excellent condition. Perfect for country style, cabin, Southwestern ranch, lodge style and rustic decor. I don't have room for it in my living room. Would be a terrific decorator piece.

Tarahumara Indian pottery is a classic primitive style pottery. Located in the Sierra Madre mountains of northern Mexico, National Geographic Magazine called the Tarahumara, North America's most primitive people. Their Native American style pottery is utilitarian and often primitive and represents a craft that Native potters have made for centuries. Created by the pinch and coil method, Tarahumara Indian pots are made by hand without a wheel. The vase is formed by hand coiling clay for the shape of the vessel, then burnished with a piece of smooth wood or stone and cured by a wood fire as you can see in the coloration of the pot.
