<b>Recruit</b> a team of 10-40 canvassers to represent top issue-based organizations on the front lines of the
progressive movement. Responsible for developing and implementing a plan to hire talented staff. <br>
<b>Manage, train and develop</b> staff into activists and leaders in a canvass office. Work with staff to develop
them into the next leaders of the progressive movement. <br>
<b>Canvass</b> to raise funds and build support in the community. Lead staff by example and work on the front
lines for the most important issues facing our nation. <br>

<i>Requirements for Position: </i><br>
Strong communication and motivational skills, work ethic, and desire for political change are essential. Candidates
must be able to work within a team, have proven leadership ability and an orientation towards handling a lot of

or canvassing experience is a plus, and may qualify candidates for additional leadership positions. <br>

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  The executive director acts as chief administrator and is responsible for overall operations of the organization and its programs.  The executive director is responsible for financial management, personnel supervision, program development, public relations, and fundraising. Summary:<br>
As a CIEE Local Coordinator you place high school aged exchange students with host families in your local community and help supervise them throughout the duration of their stay. This position offers you great flexibility, as you decide the level of commitment by the number of students you choose to mentor and which hours/days to devote. Many of our coordinators have full time jobs, are stay at home moms and dads, or are retired. This is a contract position. Each year we would send out at 1099 for tax purposes. Local Coordinators take this job because they are committed to cross-cultural awareness, education, and a love for the students. <br>
<br>
Primary Responsibilities: <br>
<br>
• Recruit and select host families in your area.<br>
• Match students with host families.<br>
• Build and maintain relationships with local schools.<br>
• Provide guidance to students and host families throughout the experience.<br>
• You recruit families and place students for programs lasting one semester up to a full academic year. <br>
<br>
<br>
Knowledge and Skills:<br>
<br>
• The qualities necessary to make a good Local Coordinator include creativity, ability to network, patience, persistence, understanding of people and children in particular. Ability to pull yourself and your personal connections out of a particular situation in order to be objective. An understanding of cultural differences is helpful.<br>
<br>
Compensation:<br>
Our Local Coordinators receive a placement payment of $400.00 once a student is placed with a family and $125 per semester for each student they supervise. Local coordinators who do place between 2 and 5 students are invited to the National and International meetings each year, with flights, lodging and most meals covered by CIEE. 2012-2013 meetings will be in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Lisbon, Portugal.<br>
